» Measuring Your Dog
Take neck and chest circumference measurements. The best
way to do this is to take a piece of string, wrap it around
snug (but not tight) and then measure the string where both
ends meet. If measurements do not match a specific size
exactly then go to the largest size that does match a measurement.
Length is measured from base of neck to beginning of hind
legs. Length measurement can be specified when placing your
order. There's no extra charge for lengthening or shortening.
If you do not specify length in your order, you will receive
the default length specified in the above chart.
» Considerations
The amount of stretch in a sweater depends on yarn, stitch
and style ordered. Some of our sweaters have a great deal
of stretch to them, others have very little. If you need
to know how much "give" a style has, please email
to inquire. Chest measurements are a rough idea of what
size they are and again are dependent on yarn, stitch, and
style ordered.
Never pull the tape measure too tight when
measuring your dog. You want the tape measure to just touch
without pulling it taunt. Actually measurement of sweater
is just very slightly larger than neck measurement specified.
This allows just a tad of room to get over your dogs head.
If your dog breed has a large head it might be wise to order
a size larger than their neck size to allow the sweater
to fit comfortably over their head. Elastic can be added
to the neck at your request so that a sweater will snug
about without being too tight and allow that extra room
to go over a large head.
